Accessibility - SmileCat: Aligner Tracker

Screen Reader Support

SmileCat is designed to work with VoiceOver on iOS and TalkBack on Android. Every screen is built with screen reader users in mind.

• Interactive elements include clear labels so screen readers can announce what each control does.
• Roles and states identify buttons, headings, switches and adjustable controls, and communicate whether a control is selected, checked or disabled.
• Hints provide extra context where it helps, so the purpose of an action is always clear.

Real-Time Announcements

Your progress is never conveyed by colour alone. The wear timer reports its current value and whether the aligners are in to screen readers, the mascot's mood is always paired with a short text description, and reminders arrive as system notifications you can hear, feel and read.

Themes & Display

SmileCat uses a single light, high-contrast interface with warm, calm colours that stay readable in daylight, and the mascot settles into a softer night palette when it is late and the aligners are in. Text follows your system font size setting on both iOS and Android, and layouts are designed to scale with larger type without clipping.

Reduced Motion

When the system Reduce Motion setting is enabled, SmileCat skips the sliding transitions on its sheets and keeps decorative animation to a minimum so the app stays comfortable to look at.

Haptic Feedback

Starting or stopping the timer, switching a tray and completing a purchase are confirmed with a distinct vibration, so you get a tactile cue alongside the visual one. Haptics follow your device's system setting: switch them off there and SmileCat stays silent.

Navigation & Visual Alternatives

A clear heading hierarchy lets screen reader users move through each screen quickly. The wear ring and progress bars are paired with text labels and spoken values, so the same information is available without sight. Purely decorative graphics, including the mascot artwork, are hidden from screen readers to avoid unnecessary noise.

Languages & Right-to-Left Support

SmileCat is available in English, Turkish and Arabic and automatically detects your device language. Dates, numbers and reports follow the app's language. Right-to-left layout for Arabic is fully supported, including text direction and layout mirroring.
